Collaborative Methodologies: in practice and in theory

Can a connection be established between the collaborative praxis in the audiovisual and the theoretical ideas that sustain it? This session provides a space for dialogue about common concepts within collective, audiovisual practice from the point of view of theoretical research and will be discussed by creative collectives who draw on their own practical experience. The aim is to introduce people to the different ways of doing things within an audiovisual collective and the transparency which is necessary in their organization and processes. This, in turn, can teach us about their approach and the different stages, their genealogy, the different levels of collaboration and the way in which these kinds of practices are spread.


Participating in the debate are three collectives who are showing their work in the Official Section of this first edition of the Festival: Cirerers Habitatge Cooperatiu, the driving group behind a building dedicated to cooperative living, who made a documentary to publicize their project; Laboratorio Reversible, who are dedicated to the creation, experimentation, thought, diffusion and conservation of analogue film; and La Rara Troupe, a group who uses their audiovisual creations to reflect and act on mental health.
The moderator will be Lázaro Cruz, a graduate in Audiovisual Communication and Journalism, with a Masters in Film Studies and Contemporary Audiovisuals from the Pompeu Fabra University. Since 2014, his research has centered around collaborative filmmaking, its diverse movements and terminologies and representation through collaborative audiovisuals. He is currently developing a project linked to the collaborative film archive.
