Wrinkled faces, an abandoned lot, a shadow engulfs a cat, two hands link, a banner announces the future… A film that seems like it might fade away at any moment, its temporality suspended: the people, at times, seem to be from another era, the frames recovered from a distant time. But we’re in the present day, in a neighborhood that threatens to disappear. Movement that is barely detained by small acts of resistance.
"veCINES" is a collective film made by Laboratorio Reversible in the territory it inhabits: the Poble-sec neighborhood of Barcelona.

Biography
Laboratorio Reversible is a collective based in Barcelona and focused on the creation, experimentation, thought, diffusion and conversation around analogue film. A space for meeting and work, the aim of which is to generate community and promote possible synergies between the members of the group, as well as non-members who share the same interests. Its interest centers around filmmaking as a trade, due to its element of manual work, as well as the material dimension of its production process. For this reason, it is important for this collective to maintain the tools and knowledge that analogue film requires, in collaboration and co-existence with the practices of digital filmmaking. In this sense, it thinks of itself as a tool bank and facilitates the transmission of knowledge necessary for its use.
The collective has been inactive since the pandemic, although it does not declare itself disappeared.

Metodology
The Laboratorio Reversible collective, based in the Poble-sec neighborhood of Barcelona, has, since its beginnings, worked on projects linked to analogue cinema, through shared learning and direct interaction with its immediate surroundings.
"veCINES" is an audiovisual piece, filmed on a Super 8, over the course of two years. The direction, script, production, technical aspects and editing were all carried out collectively. In this way, authorship becomes diluted - something which has allowed us to create a heterogeneous atlas of faces, gestures, relationships, connections, spaces and the collective imagination within the Poble Sec neighborhood. It is a work that comprises filmed portraits of the women in the neighborhood but, at the same time, far from limiting itself to contemplation, it has chosen to look directly at the processes of transformation linked to tourism and housing which the Poble-sec neighborhood, like many other parts of the city, is experiencing right now. In this way, the creative process is understood to be a tool which has great political potential.
