Isola!

The Rebenty collective initially found itself in a place that hosted various forms of artistic and craft residencies. The starting point was an introductory workshop on filming and developing initiated by a member of the future collective. This experience gave rise to a film that they also screened in the same venue at the end of the workshop. Following the experience of these first two shoots, they continued their experiments, still using film, with the aim of perpetuating the practice of this medium, which is the cornerstone of their collective work.

From a common place, the Dojo of Axat (Pyrenees, France), a hangar in the hollow of a valley, arose the desire to feel the film and get your hands on chemistry. The collective met for a few days at the dawn of summer 2018, the time to seal the last light holes in the darkroom, find an idea and go film, then develop, copy, and always share knowledge and moments of life. Here was born the first film, "Rebenty", named after the river where it was shot. The collective naturally took this name, from where it all began. In 2019 the group met for a second experience, in this same territory, to make images with light in the center. The Dojo was living its last collective moments, we made a portrait of it like an island that we see in the distance like a mirage, "Isola!"
