Bruna Giuliatti, Jhonatan Gomes and Sérgio Guidoux are a trio of directors with experience in documentaries on socio-environmental issues and fictional films. They also work in theater, music and screenwriting. The Sindicato dos Trabalhadores Rurais de Mostardas is a union for workers with limited economic resources. It is part of Ponto de Cultura, a network of collectives which develop and carry out cultural activities in their communities and which is linked to Cooptram, a co-operative of towns and traditional communities in the region of Mostardas (Brazil).

The documentary came about as a result of a proposal from Sindicato dos Trabalhadores Rurais de Mostardas, who invited the directors to submit their project, when a call for cultural proposals was put out by the Brazilian State during the pandemic. Once the project was approved, the directors started working with the union on pre-production and planning the shoot. The directors were entrusted with the technical side, while the union shared with them their knowledge of the region, as well as introducing them to people in the local communities who they already had a close relationship with and who are united in a common struggle. During shooting of the film and visits to the people, they established a fluid, non-hierarchical methodology with the inhabitants of the communities. Along with a representative of the union, they had open conversations with these people and decided on the steps that should be taken together.
