Massacalor

Vivim el barri emerged from a film experimentation workshop promoted by the Filmoteca de Catalunya, as part of the #RavalEstiuEducatiu initiative and facilitated by the cooperative La Selva. The workshop involves the participation of organizations, public secondary schools, and community groups from the Raval neighbourhood, including Santa Monica, Fundació Tot Raval, Top Manta, the Ciutat Vella self-managed youth centre, the cultural association “El Baile del León”, KN60Lab, and the restaurant La Monroe, among others.

These organizations not only contribute to the workshop’s activities but also provide resources and spaces for the development of the different sessions.

The fifth edition of the initiative took place between 30 June and 8 July 2025 at the Filmoteca, Santa Mònica, and various locations throughout Barcelona's Raval neighbourhood. The young participants experienced the collaborative process of making a short film through which they expressed their own perspectives on the Raval. Working alongside a group of filmmakers, they took part in every stage of the filmmaking process, including scriptwriting, location scouting, filming, editing, and creating the soundtrack.

The workshop also featured contributions from film industry professionals, who shared practical knowledge and enriched the creative process. In addition, participants visited a range of local organisations and community associations in the neighbourhood.
