Bang Bang Stefi!

Super8eres is a collective of six artists and filmmakers with diverse backgrounds and varying levels of experience, who work collaboratively across every stage of the filmmaking process, from conception and shooting to editing. Their films have been screened at festivals and video showcases including CO-, l’Alternativa, Dimarts de Vídeo (Dones Visuals), and S8 – Mostra de Cinema Periférico.

As a collective, we are committed to exploring methodologies that allow us to engage collaboratively with themes of shared interest. At the beginning of the process, we devoted several sessions to identifying the issues that resonated with us, both individually and collectively. Ultimately, we found ourselves drawn to revisiting the Western genre through a feminist lens.

We believe that modes of production shape—and are inseparable from—the audiovisual work itself. For this reason, the playful and experimental methodology of the exquisite corpse gives the film a humorous, exploratory, and interactive character.

At Super8eres, we see collective filmmaking as a way of politicising the images we create. In this sense, Bang Bang Stefi! belongs to the tradition of feminist experimental cinema not only through its subject matter, but also through the collaborative process of its production.
